A short English-language poem becomes the starting point for this haiku and calligraphy workshop. After an introduction to haiku background, methods and rules, participants write their own English haiku. Misako then translates it into Japanese calligraphy for each attendee to copy onto paper with brush and ink.
From poem to take-home work
