The Embassy of Japan’s exhibition Japan: Between the Ocean & the Seas explores how water has shaped the country’s mythology, daily life, overseas connections, industries, policy, crafts, fine art and modern pop culture.
The exhibition runs from 24 August to 2 November at the Embassy of Japan in Piccadilly. It is closed at weekends, on 31 August, 21 and 22 September, and 12 October. The displays move from traditional stories and coastal life through international connections and creative culture, making the sea the thread linking the exhibition’s historical and contemporary material.
