Japanese experimental filmmaker SAÏTO Daïchi presents three films from his personal 35mm prints at special screenings in Bristol and London. Both programmes end with an in-person Q&A about his analogue filmmaking process.
Programme
- earthearthearth (2021), 30 minutes
- Trees of Syntax, Leaves of Axis (2009), 10 minutes
- Engram of Returning (2015), approximately 18 minutes
The programme runs for approximately 58 minutes before the Q&A. The films explore landscape, memory, rhythm and perception through optical manipulation and frame-by-frame photochemical work.
